Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS)is looking for a full-time Infectious disease (ID) physician with additional training and interest in infection prevention control. CTVHCS is aligned with the Texas A&M as its academic affiliate and is a key education site for medical students and residents.
The successful candidate will be expected to Chair Infection Prevention and Control Committee (IPCC). In the role as Chair of IPCC, the incumbent will work closely and collaboratively with Nursing, Quality Safety and Value, Inpatient, and Environment of care services. The person will have dedicated time for infection prevention and control program and will provide the intellectual leadership for IPCC program. He/she will develop evidence-based prevention and control activities directed towards health-care-associated infections (HAI) and other infectious conditions as an integral part of the infection prevention control program. He/she will also oversee the policies and procedures that are established in the infection prevention control program. The incumbent will be seeing patients in outpatient clinics, providing consultation for hospitalized patient, and actively participate in teaching medical students, resident and fellows. The successful candidate will play key role in performance areas like Hospital Acquired Infections, inpatient complications, SAIL model (Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning) and other pertinent performance and quality improvement measures.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted, or (2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) of the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. (3) For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (NOTE: VA Physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.)
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: The following qualifications are preferred because CTVHCS is affiliated with Texas A&M University Health Science Center andhas an active teaching program:
Infectious Diseases training/fellowship and board certification
SHEA training in infection control or equivalent experience in hospital epidemiology
Experience in managing an Infection control program
