The Internal Communications Manager, Human Resources, will assist, support and manage the implementation of Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s human resources communications and associated programs aimed at providing updates, news and information to all internal constituencies, staff, volunteers, clinicians and other internal hospital audiences, with a particular communications focus related to Human Resources (HR).
The Internal Communications Manager, HR, is directly involved in all aspects of internal communication planning and execution, providing communication and marketing counsel and advice to the Chief Human Resources Officer and Team along with working with other departments and stakeholders as needed. The individual assumes responsibility for collecting information, conducting research, writing and editing trafficking the approval of communications, announcements, talking points, leadership messages and other items for internal distribution, working closely with the Managing Editor and the Creative Services team on various aspects of production.
The Internal Communications Manager, HR, will collaborate with other Communications and Marketing staff to create or develop accompanying audio, video, photos, collateral materials or images to complement written materials. This role will provide communications support primarily to the Human Resources division, as well as provide support for physician, nursing, and employee-related communications. This role will report to the Director of Communications and Publications with shared oversight by the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Provides consultation with internal clients – primarily the Human Resources division -- ensuring deadlines are met, photos and images are secured, and memorandums and stories are proofread and follow D-H’s style and brand guidelines.
Serves as a resource for the Human Resources division, as well as to Nursing and Physician Leadership when messages are HR-related, such as issues regarding compensation, recruitment and retention, health and wellness and the like. Working with the Director of Communications and Publications will disseminate messages to internal audiences through internal channels, such as D-H Weekly, the employee newsletter, and internal email vehicles.
Generates story ideas, as well as writing, editing and proofreading copy and getting approvals on stories before they are published in print or web version or in social media outlets, while adhering to tight deadlines.
Works with designers and/or photographers to edit written content to fit layout, produce photo captions, and ensure consistency of message and brand identity.
Coordinates production and distribution of marketing communications collateral materials – brochures, digital signage, etc. – that promotes internal campaigns, events and activities.
Responsibilities include communications planning and implementation of internal campaigns and coordination of efforts with other communication services throughout the Dartmouth-Hitchcock system as needed.
Serves as the main liaison with Human Resources Recruiting Vice President and team to ensure consistency and accuracy of messages, branding and guidelines for HR microsites, social media outlets and advertising managed by external agency.

Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communication, public relations or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional setting, or the equivalent in education and experience required.
Direct experience in human resources communication is a plus. Health care experience helpful but not necessary.
Excellent communication skills, including writing and editing, web content management and strong organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to plan, coordinate and evaluate projects and programs.
The ability to meet tight deadlines is vital as is the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously, work independently with minimal supervision, and use sound judgment.
Ability to collaborate across many departments and member organizations, including Office of the General Counsel, System member HR and Communications colleagues, to drive cohesive messaging and important communications.
