Fairview Health Services is looking for a Health Unit Coordinator at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. This positionwill be in the Emergency Room department.
The Emergency Department at Fairview Southdale is a 44 bed, Level 3 Trauma Center that treats over 55,000 patients per year. In addition to being a Trauma Center, the Hospital is a Cardiac Center of Excellence and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Team members include Emergency Physicians, Registered Nurses, ER Techs, Health Unit Coordinators, Behavioral Health Professionals, Pharmacists and Case Managers. This is a day/evening position, 8 hour shifts with every other weekend. Benefit eligible.
The health unit coordinator is responsible for the clerical activities on the unit assigned.
These include but are not limited to the following:
Maintenance of the patients' medical records, transcription of medical orders,
Scheduling and coordination of patient tests and procedures,
Maintenance of unit communication system,
Answering telephones, and
Coordination of communication between unit based staff, physicians, other departments as needed.
1 year customer service experience
2+ years customer service experience
Previous HUC, administrative or hospitality industry experience
Completion of HUC training program or Demonstrated HUC experience of 1-2 if HUC Vo-Tech training has not been completed.
Understanding of Medical terminology
Excellent communication skills (verbal, telephone, and written) and computer skills required.
Ability to focus and work in an environment of frequent interruptions.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
