This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be April 23, 2021. Applicants will be referred on a periodic basis thereafter. This position is located on the mental health and substance abuse recovery unit (sub-acute psychiatry) unit at VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System in Leeds, MA. The incumbent performs a wide variety of clerical, patient care and supportive duties and is flexible in adapting to work demands and numerous assignments. The incumbent maintains the progress of the daily flow of work and makes adjustments according to the needs of the patients and practitioners. The work involves the performance of the full range of functions using a variety of conventional techniques and procedures. The work directly affects the overall well-being of the patients served. Work consists of personal care duties, treatments, documentation, remotivation therapy, and patient teaching. Recurring duties and carried out independently. Veterans age 18 through the geriatric years are served with all diagnoses found in late adolescence, early mid-life and late adulthood. Some duties include but are not limited to: Escorting patients/residents safely both on and off station. Is able to follow standard precaution and other infection control protocols as needed. Demonstrates knowledge of basic health care provider skills. Provides 1:1 or Safety Sitter nursing care to patient's/resident's who may require restraints or special observation. Understands patient's/resident's rights and responsibilities. Maintains a safe, secure environment of patients/residents staff, significant others and visitors as addresses in the VAMC Safety Manual. Provides comprehensive physical care to patients/residents. Motivating patients/residents toward optimal level of functioning. Work Schedule: Multiple tours available, weekdays/nights, weekends, and holidays may be scheduled: Days with rotation 7:30am - 4:00pm Evenings 3:30pm - 12:00am Nights 12:00am - 8:00am Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
