Recruitment/Relocation Incentives: Not Authorized The New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS) is seeking a full-time Nursing Assistant (NA) for the Gero-Psychiatry Inpatient Unit. The NA participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and applies knowledge of nursing principles, practices and procedures, patient disease entities, ethics, interdisciplinary care plans, interpersonal and teaching skills to patient care and daily operations of this program. The NA is accountable for adhering to established policies and procedures and for demonstrating self-direction, experience, and creative approaches to the management of complex patient care. The NA actively seeks out educational opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge and shares the new knowledge gained with other staff. The NA demonstrates self-direction in evaluating personal strengths and weaknesses and identifies methods for self-development. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direct patient care, assessment, use of medical equipment, and collaboration with all staff members in the care of our Veterans. The NA has contact with patients that have a variety of medical and psychiatric diagnosis. The NA provides nursing care, encouragement, and fosters patient self-reliance and independence. The NA provides appropriate care for Veterans generally ranging in age from 18 through the geriatric years, taking into consideration diagnosis, physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs. The NA is directly responsible to the Nurse Manager, Inpatient Psychiatric Units. Work Schedule: Full Time; 24/7, Various shifts and schedules Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
