POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for coordinating services provided by volunteers throughout assigned area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment, on-boarding, orientation, training, counseling, scheduling and/or terminating the service of volunteers.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinates Volunteer Services operations and daily activities, which may include interviewing, orienting, placing, training, counseling, and supervising of volunteers. Participates in volunteer recruitment activities through community outreach and presentations. Conducts monthly general orientation and annual re-orientation for volunteers.
2. Serves as the initial contact for the department. Coordinates and ensures timely recording of volunteer absences and filling of absences.
3. Coordinates the establishment and maintenance of volunteer files with current information. Tracks volunteer mandatory training and Occupational Health testing. Ensures regulatory compliance for all volunteer files to include service position descriptions and competencies, where applicable.
4. Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental policies and procedures.
5. Coordinates the scheduling and placement of volunteers.
6. Participates in the design, development, coordination and implementation of projects and activities for volunteers.
7. Works collaboratively with hospital departments to assist in the implementation of volunteer opportunities. Monitors the work and performance of volunteers.
8. This position is responsible for assisting with the recruitment, application review, interviewing, scheduling, and orientation of volunteers. This position participates in daily operational activities to ensure the smooth operation and regulatory compliance of volunteer services. Internal customers include employees and volunteers. External customers include patients, family members, potential volunteers, and the community-at-large.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. A working knowledge of customer service principles and practices as normally demonstrated through a minimum of two years relevant experience.
Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact and provide assistance to a diverse group of individuals. Must have a working knowledge of personal software packages. Skilled in handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task workload in a fast-paced environment. Proficient use of written language in composing a variety of presentations, policies, procedures, and other applicable communication pieces. Skilled in maintaining composure and professional demeanor in difficult and stressful situations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor???s Degree. Prior experience working with volunteers in an oversight capacity.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
